چکیده
The Wide Field Imager (WFI) is one of two focal plane instruments the Advanced Telescope for High-Energy Astrophysics (Athena), ESA’s next large x-ray observatory, planned launch in early 2030s. current baseline halo orbit around L2, and second Lagrangian point Sun-Earth system L1 under consideration. For both potential orbits, radiation environment, solar cosmic protons, electrons, He-ions will affect performance instruments. A further critical contribution to instrument background arises from unfocused hard background. It important understand estimate expected instrumental investigate measures, such as design modifications or analysis methods, which could improve level achieve challenging scientific requirement (<5 × 10 − 3 counts / cm2 keV s at 2 7 keV). Previous WFI simulations done Geant4 have been improved by taking into account new information about proton flux L2. In addition, simulation model its surroundings employed has refined follow technological development camera.

The Cosmic Background Imager
Design and performance details are given for the Cosmic Background Imager (CBI), an interferometer array that is measuring the power spectrum of fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) for multipoles in the range 400 < l < 3500. The CBI is located at an altitude of 5000 m in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. It is a planar synthesis array with 13 0.9-m diameter ante...
متن کاملThe COMPTEL instrumental line background
The instrumental line background of the Compton telescope COMPTEL onboard the Compton GammaRay Observatory is due to the activation and/or decay of many isotopes. The major components of this background can be attributed to eight individual isotopes, namely D, Na, Na, Al, K, Mn, Ni, and Tl. The identification of instrumental lines with specific isotopes is based on the line energies as well as ...
متن کاملPolarization observations with the Cosmic Background Imager.
Polarization observations of the cosmic microwave background with the Cosmic Background Imager from September 2002 to May 2004 provide a significant detection of the E-mode polarization and reveal an angular power spectrum of polarized emission showing peaks and valleys that are shifted in phase by half a cycle relative to those of the total intensity spectrum. This key agreement between the ph...
متن کاملTHE ANISOTROPY OF THE MICROWAVE BACKGROUND TO l = 3500: DEEP FIELD OBSERVATIONS WITH THE COSMIC BACKGROUND IMAGER
We report measurements of anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background radiation over the multipole range l ∼ 200 → 3500 with the Cosmic Background Imager based on deep observations of three fields. These results confirm the drop in power with increasing l first reported in earlier measurements with this instrument, and extend the observations of this decline in power out to l ∼ 2000. The decl...
متن کاملBackground on the Field Data
THE STUDY IS BASED PARTLY ON THE DATA GATHERED IN THE municipality of Banaue, Ifugao, Mountain Province in May, June, July and December of 1966 and January of 1967. The field work was undertaken as a preliminary survey of Ifugao art in order to record and appraise the types of arts and crafts that are still being practiced. Prior to the field trip, I had studied earlier accounts of Ifugao cultu...
